The Press speculated on Monday morning whether President Trump had something to do with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s resignation. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed at the Press Hearing that the President did not play a role in his resignation.
Politico reported: Shortly after reports began to surface that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was stepping down from his position, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Monday that President Donald Trump was not involved with that decision.
“I can tell you he didn’t play a role in any of that process,” Sanders said during Monday’s press briefing.
The president has been critical of McCabe, claiming he was biased because his wife received funding during her unsuccessful bid for the Virginia Legislature in 2015 from then-Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
McCabe will reportedly go on “terminal leave,” and stay on the payroll until he retires in March.
